Artful Insights : New Tutorial and Creative Inspiration

Hello Reader,

Hope you're all doing well! It's been a bit of a whirlwind here with the school holidays, upcoming renovations, and a new children's book project. But hey, that's the creative life, right? Wouldn't have it any other way.

Speaking of creativity, I'm excited to share my new Procreate brush set designed specifically for surface pattern designers.

I get so many students asking for help on how to layout a design, where to put motifs and how to create a well balanced pattern, so I've created my own set of templates and guides as Procreate brushes to help with building up those skills.

It includes templates and guides to help you create stunning patterns with ease. Check it out here:

To give you a quick walkthrough, I've created a YouTube tutorial:

Artful Insights

I'm always on the hunt for new books, podcasts, artists to follow, tools and apps that complement our artful journey, and I do love sharing. So once a month I will showcase what I've discovered in the previous month.

So grab a cuppa and enjoy!

Here are my artful insights for the last month:

My Favourite New Tool

Life of Colour pen's are a new addition to my ever growing list of art tools and I absolutely love them. Created by an Aussie family, they are fast become my favourite acrylic paint pens.

Interesting Podcast

I've probably mentioned this one before, but I just love Margo Tantau's podcast "Windowsill Chats". I just listened to her latest on Aging in the Digital age with Lisa Murphy which I found really interesting.

How to find clients to license artwork

Hello Reader, Wouldn't it be amazing to see your artwork on fabrics, greeting cards, or even puzzles? Licensing your art can open doors to a whole new world of creative possibilities.
