How I Made My Art Business 10x More Efficient With Notion!

Hello Reader,

Are you juggling the creative side of art practice with the nitty-gritty of running a business? Today, I want to share with you a tool that has completely transformed how I manage my art business: Notion.

Now, you might be thinking, "Notion? Isn't that just for taking notes?" And while it's fantastic for that, it's so much more. For me, as an artist, Notion has become the central nervous system of my entire operation. It's where I organise everything from my licensing contracts, my art, my commission tracking, social media, youtube and and even my creative ideas.

Notion has been such a game-changer. It allows me to bring all those disparate pieces together into one cohesive and, dare I say, beautiful system. And this isn't just about having everything in one place; it's about gaining clarity, saving time, and ultimately, empowering my creativity by taking the stress out of the business side.

I've just posted a YouTube video where I walk you through exactly how I've set up my Notion workspace to manage my art business. I cover everything from tracking art and pattern designs, planning social media content and managing my contacts. My goal is to show you how Notion can be a powerful and surprisingly intuitive tool to help you streamline your workflow and ultimately spend more time doing what you love: creating art.

In the world of Surface Pattern Design, we don't just sell 'prints'; we sell stories. And a story needs more than one character. To build a...

Hello Reader I hope you're having a wonderfully creative week. Colour is the heartbeat of Surface Pattern Design. A mediocre motif can be saved by a killer palette, but even the most intricate illustration will fall flat if the colours don't harmonise. This is something a lot of us struggle with so I wanted to offer up a few tips. Today, I’m breaking down four pro-level colour tips that have helped me move past "default swatches" and start creating sophisticated, commercially viable designs....

Small Steps

Hello Reader Did coming back to the studio feel a bit… jarring? Same here! A week ago, my biggest "deadline" was finishing a book or deciding which snack to grab. Then suddenly I’m staring at a blank Procreate canvas and trying to remember how to draw a leaf. Blergh! If you’re feeling a bit sluggish, remember this: it’s okay to ease back into your creative practice slowly. "Baby steps" still lead to a finished artwork or pattern collection. For those of you staring at a blank page wondering...
