The advice that changed my Creative Business

Dear Reader

Ok so I know this is a BIG call, but there is one thing I ALWAYS stand by when it comes to running a creative business.

It has COMPLETELY changed me from being anxious that people are judging my work, to knowing that I am just fine in who I am and what I create.

And that advice is this:

You are
NEVER
going to feel like your art is good enough,
and the moment we learn to embrace imperfect art,
everything becomes better.

As an artist, I know firsthand the pressure to create something 'perfect.' When I was starting out, this constant self-criticism was a real challenge. It was like being stuck in a loop of self-doubt, which hindered my creative process.

So this is your reminder today that imperfect art is the perfect way forward.

And you can start to achieve this by:

  • Celebrating the Small Wins: Focus on daily or weekly achievements rather than striving for constant perfection. Every small step forward is a victory.
  • Practising Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding. Remember, everyone makes mistakes.
  • Setting Realistic Goals: Break down overwhelming tasks into smaller, achievable steps. Celebrate progress, not just perfection.
  • Learning from Mistakes: View challenges as opportunities for growth. Analyse what went wrong and use it as a learning experience.
  • Not comparing yourself to others: Comparing ourselves to others can be a real creativity killer. Remember, everyone's path is different. Your journey, with its ups and downs, is what makes your art special.

And if you need more support on embracing imperfect art? These additional resources may help you...

Have you had struggles with perfection?

Hit reply and let me know, I’d love to hear your experience or help in any way I can and my inbox is always open to chat.

Happy creating!
